ATE/KUYA & ADING PROGRAM

(Big and Littles Program)

The ate/kuya and ading program is a mentorship program that FUSION provides to our members to guide them throughout college and ultimately give them a pamilya for life.  The words, "ate, kuya, and ading," is Tagalog for “older sister, older brother, and younger sibling.” This is an opportunity to gain and build relationships within the general body members of FUSION. During the beginning of each Fall semester, a ballot will be sent out to everyone who wants to have a big or little. Bigs & Littles Program creates and grows family trees of past and present FUSION members and alumni.

To be considered an ate/kuya, you have to be a current, returning, or active member of FUSION. You have the option to choose from a pool of ading applicants who are looking for a big.

Bigs and Littles are chosen on the basis of three things:

  1. The individual's interest in their prospective Big or Little

  2. E-board’s input on the pairing (based on their interests/hobbies/likes/dislikes)

  3. How active the individuals are within FUSION

Ever since the start of FUSION's Bigs & Littles Program, families have grown and friendships have bloomed. Having a big or little means you can maintain a relationship with a schoolmate not only for a certain college span but for a lifetime long relationship. A family of bigs and littles usually hangs out or studies together. Joining the program will ensure someone an extended family network and growing connection of friends.
